Begin your tour with a visit to the iconic Armenistis Lighthouse, locally known as Fanari (“Lantern”). Located just 6.5 km from Mykonos Town, the lighthouse stands 19 meters tall with a focal plane at 184 meters and has been a key point of Mykonos’ maritime history since 1891. Learn about its first lamp, now exhibited at the Aegean Naval Museum, and enjoy breathtaking panoramic views over the new port and nearby islands, including Tinos.
Continue towards the small port of Agios Ioannis, an area of historical significance named after the local church. Visit the church and the Saint’s cell, where the annual fair is held, and observe the traditional fishing boats sheltered from the island’s strong northern winds. The tour then proceeds to a panoramic viewpoint over Mykonos Airport, offering a unique perspective of the runway and, if lucky, the chance to see planes taking off or landing.
Drive inland to Ano Mera Village, one of the most traditional areas of Mykonos, characterized by agricultural landscapes, small cultivated fields, and local farms with domestic animals. Visit the Monastery of Panagia Tourliani, where a guided tour introduces you to its architecture and interior spaces. Afterwards, explore the lively village square and take a glimpse at the nearby open-air market with fresh local products.
